predictable pattern books

London, J. (2002). Froggy plays in the band.
Harmondsworth, Middlesex, England: Penguin Group Ltd.

ISBN: 0-670-03532-7

This story is about Froggy's marching band and lead the one and only Frogilina. When Froggy saw a sign that there is a big contest throughout school, the challenge and excitement came to him right away, and of course the "prize".
The next day all his friends in the band start to practice in their yard and here comes Frogilina who  wants to join the group and lead the band and be a majorette. But there are rules in the band "don't look right, don't look left and don't stop for anything".

This book is fun for children, because every child can join the group and they can play and listen to different instruments, but they need to follow the instructions.

The illustrator used color pencil and a water color, illustrations have a big letter that excite the children to follow whoever will read it to them.

To set the provocations, have a set of different instruments for them to listen and play.

3 ways of presenting this book:
A. Reading the story, you need a book, read it aloud to children using different voices according base on the story, chunk the book by asking children what is their favourite instrument? Who wants to listen to the music? Is there any instrument in their house?
B. Felt story: make a felt board, cut out of the different characters and instruments from the book, let the children stick on the felt board the different characters and instruments. The more children get involve, the more they will learn.
C. Musical story instruments: music prop box.

Extensions:
A. Game: group the children as you are going to play or form a parade or band, let them pick their favourite instrument that you have in your prop box.
B. Activities: simple vocabulary, by matching the picture with the word.
C. Recognizing the efforts of every child.
