Boston, New York London: Little, Brown and Company.
ISBN: 0-316-79785-5
This story is about Daisy the duckling and her little brother Pip. Everytime they visit their Grandpa's farm they love to hear the mysterious "Beasties" and one day Daisy and Pip try to find it by themselves.
Children love to listen the different kinds of sound of animals, especially the farm animals. They love to imitate the sound and the way they move.
The colourful illustrations give children the possibility to use their imaginations to know who is Beastie.
To set the provocations have a picture of the farm with the different animals.
3 ways of presenting this book:
A. Felt story: make a felt board and cut out of the animals in the story.
B. Reading the story: we need a book, chunk the book by asking questions who has a grandpa? Does your grandpa read a story for you? What is your favourite story?
C. Story basket: hide all the things in the basket and cover it, put out the characters one by one while you are reading the story.
Extension:
A. Recognizing different sound of the animals and the way they move.
