predictable pattern books

   This story is about the five little monkeys that are get ready on bed.When they know that Mama monkey is gone , they play and keep jumping on the bed and the next is trouble.Mama monkey calls the doctor , each time the doctor says, "no more monkeys jumping on the bed."

    This book is very interesting for children.They can do an action songs that everyone can participate by doing the actions.

     The illustrator, itself the author of the book, used the pencil and ink for the lines to draw the five little monkeys. She used watercolor, water pencil color and water color crayons.

     To set the provocations, have picture of the five little monkeys. Ask question like " I wonder what five little monkeys are doing?" Do you want to know? Tell them that you are going to read a story about the five little monkeys.

3 ways of presenting the book:
A. Felt Story: you need felt board and cut-out animals to let children be able to recognize who is mother monkey, doctor monkey, etc.
- for easy cut-out of the animals that you are going to use for the felt story, first draw a monkey figure on a cardboard, then trace it on the felt, cut and put accessories.
- put out and stick on the felt board the characters one by one while telling the story.
B. Reading Story: you need the book, read it aloud to the children using different voices for each character in order to catch attention of children. Stop on each page of the story, ask question in order to stimulate children's thinking while listening, find out if their guess answer is correct.
C. Story Basket: you need the basket and the cloth big enough to cover the basket, in order not to be able to see the content, animals or characters that are part of the story, you can buy some animals at the dollar store, you can make small pillows and small bed for the realization of the story that you are going to tell.

Extensions:
A. You can do a finger puppet while you are singing the five little monkeys jumping on the bed.
B. Talk about what happend to the five little monkeys, so that children learn the value of listening to their parents and to other adults.

materials:
 toilet paper roll, printer, color, scissors, glue, and paper

Steps:
1. Go to website http://www.dltk.kids.com/
2. Print the templates and photocopy as many as you want the pattern for the children.
3. Colour and cut out the templates pieces.
4. Glue the rectangular piece on first to cover the tube.
5. Glue the chest, head and arms.
6. Fold the feet tabs and glue to the inside, bottom of the tissue paper roll.
7. Fold the tail in half and glue so it looks coloured on each side, then fold the tab and glue to the tissue paper roll.
8. Glue the banana into one of the hand.
